About Spring into Tawa

Spring into Tawa is Tawa’s annual community event, bringing together a wide range of local and regional stallholders, food trucks, entertainers as well as many in the community.

It is a not-for-profit event, hosted by the Tawa Residents Association.  Stallholders are charged to cover the costs of the event.  Due to the generosity of sponsors and local businesses, there is sometimes a small surplus from the event, which is donated to a local charity.

As well as drawing on residents from the suburb of Tawa (Tawa had a population of around 13,000 people at the last census), Spring into Tawa draws people from Porirua, Aotea, Whitby, Churton Park, Johnsonville, Newlands and Khandallah, and is now being promoted actively as a regional ‘must do’ event!

In 2018, Spring into Tawa was proud to support the Tawa Youth and Families Trust, the Tawa Community Patrol and Tawa Menzshed.  In previous years we have supported the Tawa Community Patrol.

The event is funded through stallholder fees, sponsorship and donations and grants from local organisations.

In 2018, we received grants from the Hutt Mana Community Trust, the Tawa Community Board and the Wellington City Council Events Fund.

We would like to sincerely thank the Wellington City Council for their ongoing support of our event.

Spring into Tawa is organised and run by volunteers on behalf of the Tawa Residents’ Association.  The Tawa Residents Association is a volunteer committee that is focused on promoting Tawa as a vibrant and great place to live, work and play.  The Association runs events and supports community connections for the residents of Tawa.

The organising committee is led by Stacey Richardson and includes Miranda Denton-Smith, Damian Hewitt, Fiona Wild, Karen Taylor, Dawn Deavin, Tina Elsdon, Peter Bowers and Bale Nadakuitavuki.

Here is the 2017 Organising team at the event.
