About us
Spring into Tawa is Tawa’s annual community event
Bringing together a wide range of local and regional stallholders, food trucks, entertainers as well as many in the community.
We are a not-for-profit event, hosted by the Tawa Residents Association. The event is funded through stallholder fees, sponsorship, donations and grants from local trusts and organisations.
As well as drawing on residents from the suburb of Tawa (Tawa had a population of around 13,000 people at the last census), Mexted Motors Spring into Tawa draws people from Porirua, Aotea, Whitby, Churton Park, Johnsonville, Newlands and Khandallah, and is now a regional ‘must do’ event!
Mexted Motors Spring into Tawa started in the year 2000, established by local business owners keen to have a market day in the main shopping area. Since 2016, the Main Road of Tawa has been closed, allowing the event to incorporate food trucks, entertainment and a wide range of children’s activities, which are provided FREE of charge.
As an open air festival, it is difficult to estimate how many people attend the event each year. In 2023, we loosely estimate over 9,000 people attended.
How can you help?
Join the organising committee
There are many things to organise during the year, and also we need zone supervisors for on the day, so if you feel you have ideas, skills and commitment to help make this event go smoothly then please contact us via email sitnz.info@gmail.com
Sponsorship
In order for this event to be free for our community we apply for grants but also need sponsorship to top this up, or extend what we currently offer.
To request a copy of our sponsorship strategy/package, or if you are interested in sponsoring our event, please contact us via email sitnz.info@gmail.com
Volunteer
On the day before, on the actual day of the event and the Monday after, we need plenty of helpers especially for set-up and breakdown of the event. This may be putting up posters and signage, helping stallholders, sorting recycling, managing the entertainers or many other things.
If you can give even an hour of your time then please email sitnz.volunteers@gmail.com
